The groundbreaking ceremony for Asan GI Hospital-UAE (tentative name), the first global hospital of Asan Medical Center and the first integrated gastrointestinal specialized hospital in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, was held on July 10 at Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2. The ceremony was attended by key figures, including Director Soo-Sung Park of Planning and Coordination, Head Jong-Woo Choi of International Business Development, and Professor Hwoon-Yong Jung of the Division of Gastroenterology from Asan Medical Center, as well as Director General Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi of the Dubai Health Authority, and CEO Najib Fayyad of Scope Investment.

 

Scheduled for completion in 2026, Asan GI Hospital-UAE will span a total floor area of 21,150m², with two basement floors to seven ground floors. The facility will house 65 beds, including an intensive care unit, and four operating rooms. Asan Medical Center will oversee the comprehensive administration of the healthcare system, including medical treatment and education, while Scope Investment will establish the business foundation. This initiative aims to enhance the quality of life for seriously ill patients in the Middle East and enhance local healthcare standards through advanced treatments for gastrointestinal cancers such as stomach and colon cancer, post-liver transplantation management, bariatric surgery, and pediatric digestive disease treatment.
