The Department of Plastic Surgery at Asan Medical Center hosted the Asan Lymphedema Workshop 2024 from October 22 to 24. More than 120 medical professionals and experts from both domestic and international backgrounds gathered to share the latest insights on lymphedema and observe the center’s high-level, advanced microsurgical techniques.

During the live surgery session, Professors Joon Pio (JP) Hong, Peter Hyunsuk Suh, and Changsik John Pak from the Department of Plastic Surgery showcased several procedures, including lymphatico-venular anastomosis (LVA) to aid lymph fluid circulation by connecting damaged lymphatic vessels to veins, lymph node transfer involving the transplantation of healthy lymph nodes, and liposuction. These demonstrations received enthusiastic responses from attendees.

The event also featured prominent speakers from Asan Medical Center including Professor Jae Yong Jeon from the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Professor Sang-Hun Lee from the Department of Radiology, and Professor Jae-Sung Lim from the Department of Neurology. They were joined by distinguished scholars including Professor David Chang from the University of Chicago Medicine and Professor Jaume Masià, the President of the Spanish Group for Advanced Breast Reconstruction, further elevating the workshop's profile.
