The medical professionals of Asan Medical Center recently returned from their visit to Cambodia after conducting training in therapeutic gastrointestinal endoscopy. The visit was arranged as part of Asan in Asia project, which aims to promote medical self-sufficiency in Asian countries, and the team was led by Professor Hwoon-Yong Jung of the Division of Gastroenterology and Manager Hye Young Kim of the Digestive Endoscopy Team.

On October 31, the team led by Professor Jung inspected endoscopy equipment at Hebron Medical Center before moving to Calmette Hospital to demonstrate peroral endoscopic myotomy on an esophageal achalasia patient and share their expertise. On November 1, the team consulted on a suspected stomach tumor case and provided online multidisciplinary care for an esophageal cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy with the specialist of the Divisions of Gastroenterology and Pulmonology and Critical Care Medicine at Asan Medical Center.
