Asan Medical Center (AMC) has announced its achievement of Level 7 certification, the highest rating in the INFRAM (Infrastructure Adoption Model), a global standard for evaluating the digital infrastructure of healthcare institutions.
The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a respected global organization focused on integrating information and communication technology in healthcare, grants these certifications to enhance healthcare quality, patient safety, and operational efficiency. HIMSS recently revised its INFRAM standards, incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI). Asan Medical Center is the first institution in Asia to meet the stringent requirements for Level 7 certification under these updated criteria.
This milestone follows the achievement of Level 6 certification in September of last year, marking rapid progress within just three months. The Level 7 evaluation included new assessment components, such as interviews with clinicians and IT administrators to gauge real-world usability, evidence-based analysis of best practices, and leadership commitment to digital transformation.
Notably, Asan Medical Center received high praise for securing various global certifications in information security, fostering a strong culture of data protection among employees, optimizing resources through detailed analyses of IT investment efficiency, and managing IT infrastructure using real-time data-driven insights.
Professor Young-Hak Kim, Director for the Digital Information Innovation Headquarters at Asan Medical Center and a professor of the Division of Cardiology, commented, "Asan Medical Center has independently developed and managed a digital healthcare ecosystem to shape the future of medical environments. From automating workflows with robotic process automation (RPA) to implementing digital pathology systems, mobile personal health record services, and precision medicine platforms, we have spearheaded digital transformation in numerous fields."
He added, "We will continue to actively develop various digital services aimed at enhancing the quality of healthcare and strive to create a patient-centered digital hospital that integrates cutting-edge technologies."
