On April 17, medical staff from the Department of Radiation Oncology at Moe Kaung Hospital in Myanmar visited Asan Medical Center to receive training in Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT). Asan Medical Center became the first institution in Asia to establish the 'AMC-Vision RT Asia Training Center' in 2022 and has since conducted more than 20 SGRT training sessions for professionals from domestic medical institutions. This marks the first time the program has been offered to international medical professionals from the Asian region.

The visiting team, including three medical professionals from Myanmar, received training in SGRT, a marker-less technique that uses 3D camera technology to accurately reproduce the patient’s body position and align it precisely with the treatment coordinates.

Professor Si Yeol Song, Chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology, stated, “We aim to continue sharing our expertise in SGRT for a range of cancers including breast, prostate, and lung, with international medical professionals, and work toward establishing Asan Medical Center as a leading radiation therapy education hub in Asia.”
