Asan Medical Center recently completed its three month “Medical AI Job Training Program for Healthcare Professionals,” which began in September. More than 300 participants, including physicians, nurses, medical technologists, and IT specialists, took part in the program, receiving AI job training designed around real world clinical settings.

Earlier in August, Asan Medical Center was selected as the training institution for the “Medical AI Job Training Program for Healthcare Professionals,” organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) and the Korea Human Resource Development Institute for Health and Welfare (KOHI).

Asan Medical Center received strong overall evaluations in areas including its level of medical AI expertise and infrastructure, the clarity and feasibility of project goals, the establishment of a learner centered training system, and the professionalism and experience of its dedicated project team.

The program consisted of three stages: a common seminar course, an introductory course on the foundations of medical AI, and an advanced course focused on field based medical AI projects. It was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding and practical use of AI technology in clinical settings step by step.

In the common seminar course, lectures focused on the latest trends in medical AI and real world application cases. In the introductory foundation course, participants learned practical skills applicable in clinical settings, including analyzing medical data using AI.

Director Dong Hyun Yang of the Big Data Research Center at Asan Medical Center, said, “This program was meaningful not only because participants learned AI technologies, but because it strengthened healthcare professionals’ ability to directly handle data and solve problems in real clinical settings.” He added, “Asan Medical Center will continue to advance field centered AI training and lead the development of digital healthcare and AI based clinical innovation.”
