Asan Foundation (Chairman Mong-Joon Chung) held the 2026 Asan Scholarship Award Ceremony on February 25 at the auditorium of the Asan Institute for Life Sciences at Asan Medical Center in Songpa gu, Seoul.
Asan Foundation awarded a total of 3.94 billion won in scholarships to 498 students, including 88 graduate students and 410 undergraduate students.
Among the recipients, 78 graduate students in the field of biomedical science, 47 studying in Korea and 31 overseas, will receive annual scholarships ranging from 20 million to 40 million won. In addition, 10 graduate students specializing in healthcare policy will each receive 10 million per year.
The undergraduate scholarship recipients include 35 Biomedical Science Undergraduate Scholars who aspire to become biomedical scientists, 45 North Korean Defector Youth Scholars, 230 MIU Men In Uniform Children Scholars established to encourage the children of personnel dedicated to national safety including members of the military, police, fire services and the Korea Coast Guard, and 100 Regional Industry Academic Cooperation Scholars participating in industry field training programs.
Asan Foundation provides annual academic support grants of 6 million won to Biomedical Science Undergraduate Scholars and North Korean Defector Youth Scholars, and 4 million won per year to MIU Children Scholars and Regional Industry Academic Cooperation Scholars, enabling them to pursue their studies in a more stable academic environment.
Since its establishment in 1977, Asan Foundation has continuously carried out scholarship programs and has supported approximately 37,000 students with a cumulative total of 94.9 billion won in scholarships to date.
