“I Am Gaining Experience with Complex Cases That Are Difficult to Encounter in India”

 

I am training under Professor Yong Ju Jang of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Asan Medical Center, a renowned otolaryngologist and an authority in the field of rhinoplasty. By observing complex rhinoplasty procedures that are difficult to encounter in India, I have been able to experience firsthand Professor Yong Ju Jang’s world-class expertise and reputation. The case that left the strongest impression on me was an integrated alar rim grafting procedure. Professor Yong Ju Jang developed this surgical technique to address problems caused by deterioration of the area connecting the nasal tip and alar region. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to observe firsthand a surgical technique that I had previously encountered only through academic papers.

“I Have Also Met So Many Wonderful Colleagues!”

 

Another highlight of my time in Korea has been the people I work with. I regularly attend seminars held by the department and have had many opportunities to interact with fellows and residents. Recently, I also attended the International Congress of ORL-HNS 2026 (ICORL 2026) with Professor Yong Ju Jang and my colleagues, where I gave a poster presentation. It was a valuable opportunity to learn about the latest developments in the field while also making many new friends.

 

Although there are significant cultural differences and I am still not fluent in Korean, the kindness and warmth of everyone I have met in Korea have helped me adapt well. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to all of them.

“I Truly Cherish the Time I Spend Enjoying Korea’s Natural Beauty”

 

I first arrived in Korea in late March, and I was delighted to see the spring flowers in full bloom. It was wonderful to begin my time at Asan Medical Center surrounded by cherry blossoms and yellow forsythias along the Seongnaecheon riverside.

 

More recently, I was particularly impressed by the Yongmasan mountain trail. If you start walking in the early evening, you can enjoy a beautiful sunset followed by Seoul’s spectacular nightscape. Even without traveling far, there are many places I enjoy, such as the lush Central Park and the outdoor garden on the seventh floor of the New Building, where I can take in an open view of the Han River.

 

I look forward to discovering more of Korea’s beautiful natural scenery during the rest of my training.

“I Will Share What I Have Learned in Korea with My Colleagues Back Home”

 

My training, which began in late March, will come to an end in September. Although it has been a relatively short period, I have had the opportunity to see, learn, and experience so much. As I prepare to return home, I feel a strong sense of responsibility to share what I have learned in Korea with my colleagues. There are many passionate doctors in India who are eager to learn from Professor Yong Ju Jang.

 

If I have the opportunity someday, I would love to invite Professor Yong Ju Jang to India to give a lecture. (Laughs.) For the remainder of my training, I will do my best to make the most of every opportunity to learn and gain as much experience as possible.
